2023: My 2 Major Pains Over Losing Presidential Ticket – Wike Reveals
The governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has said that he suffers greatly from not representing the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, in the upcoming general elections.
Wike stated that he is deeply disappointed that he was unable to defeat the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the PDP’s presidential primary.
With a total of 371 votes, Atiku defeated Wike, his closest rival, to become the PDP’s presidential candidate for the general election of 2023. Wike received 237 votes.
Specifically, Atiku Abubakar scored 371, Nyesom Wike scored 237, Bukola Saraki scored 70, Udom Emmanuel scored 38, Balla Mohammed scored 20, Pius Anyim scored 14, Sam Ohabunwa scored 1, and Olivia Tariela scored 1. 12 votes were Voided.
And Wike, who has been crying foul since after the primary election, said that what he regrets most is that he would not have the opportunity to fight insecurity and oil theft in the country.
“I’m pained that I wasn’t able to fight Bandits and oil theft,” he said in an interview with select television stations on Friday.
“These were two things I told myself I was going to do. I said I was going to fight terrorists and oil theft squarely.”
