End Of ‘War’ As Senator Natasha invites Akpabio For Projects’ Commissioning
Tensions between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) and Senate President Godswill Akpabio appear to have eased after Akpoti-Uduaghan invited him to a project commissioning in her senatorial district.
The senator personally signed and sent the invitation, which Akpabio read aloud during plenary. The event, set for Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State, will mark her second year in the Senate.
“In celebration of my second anniversary as a serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I invite my distinguished colleagues to join me for the commissioning of projects in Kogi State,” her letter stated.
The letter directed attendees to gather at her residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, and advised senators arriving by air to use the Obajana Airstrip before continuing by road.
After reading the letter, Akpabio congratulated her in advance, signaling a public gesture of goodwill.
This invitation represents a clear reconciliation between the two senators after a February dispute over Senate seat reallocation led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension on March 6.
Since her return to the Senate on September 24, she has gradually re-engaged with Akpabio during plenary sessions and contributed to key legislative debates, including the Criminal Code Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025. Her latest invitation marks the strongest move yet toward mending ties with the Senate President.
