Woman Faints After Husband Rejects Reconciliation Plea

There was a dramatic scene at an Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday when a woman, identified as Mulikat Yusuf, fainted after her husband, Ishaq Abdulganiyu, insisted on ending their marriage.

During the proceedings, Abdulganiyu told the presiding judge, Mr. Toyin Aluko, that he was no longer interested in remaining married to Yusuf.

In her response, Yusuf begged the court to intervene, saying she was unwilling to accept a divorce. She explained that after bearing six children, she had nowhere else to turn and pleaded for the marriage to be saved.

However, moments after her husband restated his decision to proceed with the separation, the heartbroken woman left the courtroom in tears and collapsed outside.

Court officials and sympathisers quickly came to her rescue, reviving her by splashing water on her.

The presiding judge, Mr. Aluko, advised Yusuf to make every effort to reconcile with her husband and resolve their differences peacefully.

The case was adjourned until December 10 for a report on the outcome of the reconciliation or continuation of the hearing.
