BREAKING: Court Rejects Bid To Stop #ReleaseNnamdiKanuNow Protest

A Federal High Court in Abuja has refused an application by the Nigeria Police Force to stop the “Free Nnamdi Kanu Now” protest, earlier planned for Monday, October 20.

Justice Umar on Friday directed the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to serve the motion on the protest organiser, Omoyele Sowore, to enable him respond to it.

In the ex parte application with number FHC/ABJ/CS/2202/2025, the police had brought the ex parte application against Sowore and four others contending that the protesters, who intend to march to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on October 20, would cause a breakdown of law and order.

Kanu, who is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is facing charges of terrorism before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Justice James Omotosho adjourned the trial for Thursday, October 23, after the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) submitted a medical report that the diagnosed medical conditions of Kanu are not life-threatening and certified him fit to face trial.
