Robbers Fleeing Crime Scene Die In Road Crash

On Tuesday Operatives of the Goshen City Division of the Nasarawa State Police Command arrested a suspected armed robber after he and his gang robbed residents in Keffi.

In a statement on Tuesday, spokesperson for the command, Ramhan Nansel, said the arrest was made when the suspects encountered a car crash after they fled the crime scene.

Mr Nansel said. “The command wishes to inform the public of a recent breakthrough in the fight against crime, involving the arrest of a robbery suspect, a fatal accident involving the fleeing suspects, and the recovery of stolen vehicles and other items. On March 25, 2025, at about 03:00 hours, the command received a distress call reporting an armed robbery incident at a residential area behind the stadium in Keffi.”

He said though the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, upon receiving the report, directed operatives to pursue the fleeing suspects who had escaped before police arrival and their escape route was tracked.

He stated, “Nemesis, however, caught up with the robbers when the stolen vehicle they had snatched at gunpoint was involved in a fatal accident at Bola Junction, along the Keffi-Abuja Expressway, as they attempted to evade arrest.”

He said officers “rushed the five occupants of the stolen Ash colour Toyota Camry with registration number ABC 621 CV to Johepz Medical Centre, Kuchikau, for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, four of them were confirmed dead by a medical doctor, while one, identified as Hussaini Mohammed ‘M’ 25yrs of Uke, was arrested and is currently receiving medical treatment under police watch.

“Preliminary investigations confirmed that the Toyota Camry was stolen from one Udochi Emeka ‘M’, residing behind the stadium in Keffi. Further search led to the recovery of the following items from the suspects: assorted charms, two long knives, screwdrivers, several wristwatches, twelve mobile phones of different brands, one Access Bank ATM card belonging to Lydia Olabode Kemi.”

The police commissioner directed the command’s operatives to sustain their crackdown on criminals to ensure the safety and security of residents, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police.
