SENATOR BASSEY: A Shining Example Of Commitment To Nigeria’s Progress

Abuja – Senator Aniekan Bassey, a stalwart of the Senate and a strong advocate for the people of Akwa Ibom State, has been at the forefront of legislative efforts to drive positive change in Nigeria. With a plethora of bills and motions under his belt, Senator Bassey has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the growth and development of the nation.

One of his most notable legislative milestones is the Price Control Act (Amendment) Bill, which seeks to ensure that essential commodities are priced fairly and affordably for the benefit of ordinary Nigerians. The bill is a testament to Senator Bassey’s concern for the welfare of his constituents and his determination to ensure that they have access to basic necessities.

Another significant bill sponsored by Senator Bassey is the 2023 Nigerian Agricultural Preservation Council (Establishment act.) Bill, which aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices and ensure food security in Nigeria. This bill is part of his broader vision to transform the agricultural sector and create jobs for young people in Nigeria.

Senator Bassey has also sponsored the 2024 Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act (Amendment Bill), which seeks to establish a Federal College of Fishery and Aquatic Studies in Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District. This project will not only provide educational opportunities for young people but also help to develop the state’s fishing industry.

In addition to his legislative efforts, Senator Bassey has also moved several motions in the Senate. One such motion is Urging the Senate to Investigate the Controversial Make Up Gas (MUG) Reprocessing Deal Involving the Federal Ministry of Finance, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Calabar Generation Company Limited, and Aquagas Ltd. This motion is a response to concerns over the alleged irregularities in the deal and its impact on the nation’s economy.

Another motion moved by Senator Bassey is for Urgent Need for Enquiry into Implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 with Regards to Potential Exit of International Oil Companies (IOCs) from Nigeria: Case of Exxon Mobil in Akwa Ibom State. This motion highlights his commitment to ensuring that national interests are protected and that the nation’s oil resources are managed sustainably.

Senator Bassey has also played a key role in shaping the 2024 Appropriation Bill, which provides for various projects and programs aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians. These include training and empowerment initiatives, medical provisions, constructions, equipping of schools, and more.

In addition to his legislative achievements, Senator Bassey has also been involved in several other projects aimed at improving the lives of his constituents. These include road construction, installation of solar street lights in Uyo, Uruan, and Nsit Atai, employment initiatives, financial assistance programs, school sponsorships, and more.

Senator Aniekan Bassey’s legislative milestones are a testament to his commitment to serving his people and driving positive change in Nigeria. His tireless efforts have earned him recognition as a champion of progressive legislation and a champion of people-oriented governance. As he continues to serve in the Senate, Nigerians can be assured that he will remain a strong voice for their interests and a beacon of hope for a brighter future.
