Iran Launches ‘Sixth Wave’ Of Strikes, Targeting Israel And US

Tensions in the Middle East escalated dramatically on Sunday morning as Iran launched a new wave of coordinated missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and United States military positions across the region.

Iran’s elite military force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said it carried out a “sixth wave” of strikes, according to the country’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency.

The attacks reportedly targeted Israeli territory and US bases stationed in multiple Middle Eastern countries.

CNN reports that explosions were heard in several capitals and major cities, heightening fears of a broader regional conflict.

In Israel, the military confirmed that it had detected missiles launched from Iran toward its territory. According to the Israel Defense Forces, defensive systems were immediately activated to intercept incoming projectiles.

In the United Arab Emirates, multiple explosions were heard across Dubai throughout the morning. Witnesses reported seeing smoke in the sky, sparking panic in parts of the city.

Authorities confirmed that debris from an aerial interception over Dubai’s Business Bay area caused a fire at Jebel Ali, the city’s major commercial port. Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the port complex, raising concerns over potential economic disruptions in one of the region’s busiest trade hubs.

In Doha, Qatar, several loud explosions were reported at about 7:30 a.m. local time. The Qatar Ministry of Interior said at least 16 people were injured, describing the damage as “limited” in certain areas of the country.

Officials urged residents to remain indoors while security forces assessed the situation.

In Bahrain, videos circulating online showed smoke rising near the Crowne Plaza hotel in Manama. The Bahrain Ministry of Interior confirmed that sirens were activated across the country and advised residents to “remain calm and head to the nearest safe space.”

In Iraq’s Kurdistan region, thick black smoke was seen rising from a fire at Erbil Airport. Iran’s state-linked Fars News Agency reported that heavy explosions were heard in the city early Sunday.

It remains unclear whether the airport or nearby facilities housing foreign forces were directly targeted.
