TikToker Sentenced To Prison In Kano For Bathing On Street In Women’s Underwear

Umar Hashim, popularly known as Tsulange, a TikToker has been sentenced to one year in prison by a Magistrate Court in Kano State for indecent conduct.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan at Gyadi Gyadi, found Hashim guilty of public misconduct in case brought against him by the Kano State Censorship Board.

Delivering the judgement, Hassan held that the sentence can be commuted to a fine of ₦80,000. Additionally, the court ordered Hashim to pay ₦20,000 to the Kano State Censorship Board to cover investigation and prosecution costs.

Hashim was arrested in June 2025 for creating a comedy skit where he bathed on a road while wearing women’s undergarments, which was deemed indecent.

The court’s decision aims to uphold public decency and morality laws in the state.

This case highlights the ongoing debate about the limits of creative expression in digital content and the role of regulatory bodies in enforcing societal norms. The outcome of this case may have implications for content creators in the region.
