2027: Don’t Be Fooled By Coalition; Tinubu Tells Nigerians

The Bola Tinubu presidency has claimed that in two years, its government under the All Progressives Congress (APC) has beaten the records of all previous governments, including 16 years of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in power.

The presidency on Saturday urged Nigerians “not to be fooled” by the coalition but to verify the facts and make their decisions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The PDP had led Nigeia between 1999 and 2015, and lost power to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the 2015 general elections.

According to Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Communication and Strategy, in a statement posted on his X handle on Saturday, the administration’s remarkable achievements are evident in key sectors, including energy.

The presidential aide said that it would be unthinkable that some groups under the so called coalition movement, united by hate and “consigned to political wilderness, are calling for political change in Nigeria”.

Justifying his claims, Onanuga said that the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) reported a staggering revenue growth of ₦12.2 trillion in 2024, representing a 176.7% increase from ₦4.3 trillion in 2023.

This feat he maintained, demonstrates the Tinubu administration’s commitment to progress and tangible results.

“The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), a regulatory agency in the energy sector, has reported remarkable progress under President Bola Tinubu, the leader whom the misguided, anti-progress elements in the so-called coalition of hate want to remove from office.

“According to the NUPRC report for 2024, revenue growth hit a record high that year. NUPRC Revenue (Trillion Naira): 2022: ₦3.7 T; 2023: ₦4.3 T; 2024: ₦12.2 T representing 176.7% increase in 2024.”

Onanuga highlighted the successes of other agencies, such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), which have also posted record results in recent months.

“This success is not isolated. Agencies like the NNPC and the Nigeria Revenue Service have also posted record results in recent months. These achievements demonstrate that the Tinubu administration is making progress, as it is delivering tangible results in key sectors.

“It is unthinkable that some groups, united by hate and consigned to political wilderness, are calling for political change.”

Onanuga urged Nigerians not to be swayed by opposition groups calling for political change.

“I urge Nigerians not to be fooled. Verify the facts and make informed decisions about the country’s future. The facts are clear: in two years, the Tinubu administration has beaten the records of all previous governments, including 16 years of PDP in power,” Onanuga said.

The presidency’s claim of record-breaking achievements will likely be subject to scrutiny and debate, with some arguing that the administration still faces significant challenges in addressing the country’s economic and social issues.
