Troops Eliminate Terrorists, Rescue 62 Hostages In Coordinated Operations
Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, operating under Sector 2, have successfully neutralised two terrorists in Kebbi State and rescued 62 hostages in Zamfara State during coordinated operations conducted with allied security agencies and local vigilantes.
In Kebbi State, the troops acted on credible intelligence to ambush members of the Lakurawa terrorist group near the border between Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State and Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation, which took place at Kerani Village, resulted in the elimination of two terrorists and the recovery of two motorcycles used by the criminals.
The neutralised terrorists were reportedly dressed in camouflage uniforms, while the recovered motorcycles were padded with thick blankets and fitted with equipment designed for long-range movement, including hand tyre pumps, indicating preparations for extended operations.
In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops stormed the Munhaye Forest, a known hideout of the notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Alti, following intelligence reports that several captives were being held in the area. The operation led to the successful rescue of 62 kidnapped victims, who are now in safe custody.
Efforts are currently ongoing to reunite the freed hostages with their families, while follow-up operations continue to deny criminal elements freedom of action in the area.
These successful operations underscore the determination and sustained efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and its partners to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks, restore security, and safeguard lives across the North West region.
