Economies ‘Dead,’ Trump Calls Russian, Indian

Donald Trump, United States President has described the Russian economy as “dead.”

He also claimed that India’s economy is in the same condition, stating that he does not care what either country does with their “dead economies.”

Trump shared his views on his Truth Social media page amid plans to impose new tariffs on India.

“I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care,” he wrote.

He further stated that Russia and the U.S. engage in minimal trade relations.

He said, “We have done very little business with India, their Tariffs are too high, among the highest in the World. Likewise, Russia and the USA do almost no business together.

“Let’s keep it that way, and tell Medvedev, the failed former President of Russia, who thinks he’s still President, to watch his words. He’s entering very dangerous territory.”

Trump’s comments appear to be in response to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Dmitry Medvedev. In the post, Medvedev warned the U.S. of a possible war with Russia if it continues to issue ultimatums for ending the conflict in Ukraine.

“Trump’s playing the ultimatum game with Russia: 50 days or 10. He should remember 2 things: Russia isn’t Israel or even Iran.

“Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country. Don’t go down the Sleepy Joe road,” Medvedev wrote on his official X handle.

In social media posts on Wednesday, Trump launched a sharp critique of India’s trade policies, condemning its high trade barriers and continued dependence on Russian oil and military equipment. He reiterated his threat to impose a 25% tariff on all Indian imports and warned of additional “penalties” over India’s ongoing energy dealings with Russia.

“Remember, while India is our friend, we have, over the years, done relatively little business with them because their Tariffs are far too high, among the highest in the World, and they have the most strenuous and obnoxious non-monetary Trade Barriers of any Country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“Also, they have always bought a vast majority of their military equipment from Russia, and are Russia’s largest buyer of ENERGY, along with China, at a time when everyone wants Russia to STOP THE KILLING IN UKRAINE — ALL THINGS NOT GOOD!
