    VIDEO: Policeman Caught Extorting Motorcyclist

A police officer has been caught on video allegedly extorting a motorcyclist in Cross River State, sparking public outrage on social media.
The footage, which has been widely shared online, shows the officer stopping the motorcyclist at the roadside and demanding money from him. In the video, the motorcyclist is seen pleading with the officer before handing over cash, allegedly to avoid further harassment or arrest.
The incident is said to have occurred at a checkpoint in Cross River, though the exact location and date have not been officially confirmed. The video has since drawn strong reactions from Nigerians, many of whom condemned the act and accused some law enforcement officers of abusing their powers.
Several social media users called on the Nigeria Police Force to identify and discipline the officer involved, stressing that such actions damage public trust and undermine ongoing efforts at police reform.
As of the time of filing this report, the Cross River State Police Command has not released an official statement on the incident. However, similar cases in the past have often led to internal investigations following public pressure and video evidence.
The Nigeria Police Force has repeatedly warned its officers against extortion and unprofessional conduct, urging members of the public to report any misconduct through official complaint channels.
