Many Wedding Guests Perish On Highway Accident

A tragic road accident in the Kwana Maciji area of Pankshin Local Government Area, Plateau State, has claimed the lives of 19 people and left 11 others injured.
The victims were returning to Kano State after attending a wedding in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

The Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Area Emergency Management Committee, John Dasar, confirmed the incident, stating that the accident occurred on Saturday when the travelers’ vehicle crashed and later caught fire.

“The accident happened on Saturday. The people were from Kano; they came for a wedding ceremony at Barkin Ladi. They were returning home and decided to take the Gindiri-Bauchi route, which is shorter. Unfortunately, their vehicle was involved in an accident, and while efforts were being made to help them out, the vehicle caught fire,” Dasar explained.

He further revealed that the fire engulfed the vehicle, trapping 19 of the passengers, who were burnt beyond recognition.

“The driver and a few others survived the crash, but it is tragic that 19 lives were lost in such a horrifying manner,” he added.

According to him, the injured were immediately rushed to the Pankshin General Hospital, where they are receiving medical attention.
