Enough Is Eπough; This Shame Is Too Much, Wike Must Go
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is indeed taking steps to potentially expel Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State.
According to statements from PDP chieftains, including the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, the party has received numerous petitions alleging Wike’s involvement in “anti-party activities.”
These activities reportedly stem from his actions during the 2023 general elections, where he, as part of the G5 governors, allegedly worked against the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Furthermore, Wike’s acceptance of a ministerial appointment in the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of President Bola Tinubu is seen by many within the PDP as a clear act of disloyalty.
The PDP has established a disciplinary committee, led by Chief Tom Ikimi, to investigate these petitions.
The party has expressed a strong resolve to deal with any member whose actions are deemed to be detrimental to its progress or bring it into disrepute.
Abdullahi emphasized that the PDP will not tolerate members who “put us to shame” and is prepared to “get rid of them” if the committee’s findings warrant such action.
While Wike has publicly maintained that he is still a member of the PDP, the party’s leadership and various groups within the PDP have been vocal in their calls for his expulsion.
A federal high court has previously ruled that the PDP has the right to suspend or expel Wike, provided the party’s constitution and due process are followed, ensuring he is given a fair hearing.
