Hajiya Dada, the mother of late Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, is dead.
This was disclosed to newsmen by a family source on Monday evening.
Hajiya Dada was the mother of Umaru Musa Yar’adua, who served as President of Nigeria from 2007 until his death in 2010.
She was known for her strong character and her influence on her son’s life and career.
Dada held a unique position in the political arena of Nigeria. She was the wife and mother to political heavyweights who played key roles in the country’s politics from independence till her demise.
She also had three granddaughters married to prominent politicians in the country.
Thus over the years, her house was a must-visit for political gladiators who visited the state capital for political activities.
During the 2023 general electioneering period, the centenarian played host to at least five presidential aspirants from the two major political parties who were in the state to seek endorsement of their respective parties’ delegates.
Among those who have visited her was Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi.
