Umahi/Igwe’s Sack: Fear Grips Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade, Others
Following the Umahi/Igwe’s Sack, information reaching Naija News House says that Fear Grips Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade, Others
Venatius Ikem, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Cross River State, believes that Governor Ben Ayade’s dismissal by the court is also impending.
Governor David Umahi can no longer be the Governor of Ebonyi State since he decamped from the PDP to the APC, according to an Abuja High Court ruling presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo, who maintained that the votes that won him the governorship win belonged to the PDP.
The court ordered the PDP to name two people to take over as governor and deputy governor of Ebonyi State immediately, or INEC to hold a byelection.
The similar scenario took out in Cross River State, where Ben Ayade won the governorship election in 2019 while being a member of the PDP. On May 20, 2021, he resigned from the party and joined the APC.
“We’ve been in court for several months on the same grounds as the PDP in Ebonyi State, and we’re represented by the same attorneys,” Ikem explained.
“The case has been scheduled for a hearing.”
“It’s not a question of whether we’re ‘thinking in that way,’ but when our own judgment will be rendered.”
Ikem stated the National Judicial Council (NJC), to whom Umahi has applied for protection and a review of the ruling, does not have such powers.
“The New Jersey Commission is not a court.” It does not and does not have the authority to review judicial decisions. Only the proper Superior Courts have the authority to review inferior or lower court judgments,” he explained.
Political matters, according to the PDP chairman, have precedence over all other cases, and there are established timetables for the courts to begin and end activities before them.
He was optimistic that there would be no delays.
“On the contrary, justice will be administered in a timely manner,” he stated.
