Oshiomhole Set Become APC National Chairman Again
In last year, 2020 Adams Oshiomhole was suspended indefinitely as the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) because of the impasses that were disrupting the peace of the party then. After the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the National Working Committee (NWC) was dissolved and Mai Mala Buni was appointed as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the APC.
It all started with the war of superiority between the executive Governor of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. Oshiomhole accused Governor Obaseki of not involving him in the affairs of the state during Obaseki’s first tenure era.
In reaction to this, Oshiomhole promises Obaseki that he would not contest for the second time in Edo State. Obaseki kicked against this and took it up as a war against Godfatherism. The All Progressive Congress (APC) screened out Obaseki and he left for the PDP.
In the following week, Adams Oshiomhole was suspended for peace to rein in the party. Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni was appointed to be the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party in order to oversee the conventional matters in the party. There should be someone monitoring the affairs of the party, Buni was appointed then.
It is not that Mai Mala Buni is not trying in running the affairs of the party but there is a need for a party’s chairman in the party because of the upcoming presidential election. When it comes to winning election, Adams Oshiomhole is the most qualified politician to be the National Chairman of the party.
It is possible for Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to come back as the National Chairman of the party in just two ways before the election gets nearer. Comrade Adams Oshiomhole should take these two steps to become the National Chairman again.
1) Support Northern Presidency
The only thing that can hinder Oshiomhole’s zeal of becoming the National Chairman of the party again is when the presidential candidate comes from the South because we cannot have a presidential candidate and National Chairman in the same region.
Adams Oshiomhole should crave for northern presidency and the leaders of the All Progressive Congress would consider him for the post.
2) Move close to some key Northern Governors
It is easy for the likes of El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Alhaji Umar Ganduge of Kano State to ask President Muhammadu Buhari to reinstall Oshiomhole back to the game as the National Chairman of the party than any other people.
If Oshiomhole moves close to these people, they would be able to tell President Muhammadu to reinstate him ajck as the National Chairman of the party and the dissolved National Working Committee (NWC) would be resuscitated.
