The Adhoc delegates election in the 329 political Wards in Akwa Ibom State is the first in the series of what may signal the end of the hitherto smooth gubernatorial campaigns for the 2023 election as the trio of Senator Bassey Albert, Mr Akan Okon and Mr Akan Udofia have allegedly been schemed out.
The trio who addressed an on-the-spot press briefing on Saturday afternoon said there was nothing like delegates election in the state.
Senator Bassey Albert, Akan Okon and Akan Udofia all stated that the exercise did not happen and that they were deprived of the same privileges accorded other governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
They maintained that the situation would totally discredit the activities of the PDP officials who had begun a good work in the state, adding that the delegates election would become an exercise in futility, since the foundation of the gubernatorial primaries is faulty.
They called on the citizens of the state and all Nigerians to take note of the ugly development.
Close loyalists of the three aspirants who spoke with this reporter on the condition of anonymity, informed that “there is a strong indication that the trio would form a strong alliance to disrupt the planned imposition of Mr Umo Eno as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s successor”.
