Teenage Boy Kill Friend In Niger Over Mobile Phone
In a tragic incident in Kwata Tayi village, Minna, Niger State, Mohammed Isah has been arrested by the police for allegedly stabbing his friend, Nurudeen Nuhu, to death over a mobile phone set.
The altercation between Mohammed Isah and Nurudeen Nuhu reportedly escalated into a fatal fight over ownership of a mobile phone set. Mohammed Isah allegedly used a knife to stab Nurudeen in the stomach during the dispute, leading to Nurudeen collapsing immediately.
Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Niger State Command, confirmed the incident, stating that it was reported at the GRA Division. Police officers quickly responded to the scene at Abattoir area, Kwata Tayi village, where they found Nurudeen critically injured. He was rushed to the General Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Mohammed Isah was subsequently arrested by the police, and initial investigations are underway. He is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation and possible prosecution.
The incident has heightened tensions in the area, known for youth restiveness. Police patrol teams have been deployed to maintain peace and prevent any potential reprisal attacks.
PPRO Wasiu Abiodun reiterated the commitment of the police to ensure justice is served in the case. He also assured residents of Kwata Tayi village and the surrounding areas of continued police presence to guarantee safety and restore normalcy.
