Tinubu’s Tenure Elapses As ECOWAS Chairman
Presidents and representatives of 12 member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are currently meeting for the 63rd Ordinary Summit at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
This is as President Bola Tinubu’s tenure as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the regional bloc elapses on July 9.
NNH learnt that Sunday’s meeting commenced at 1 pm.
The West African leaders are expected to elect another Chairman for the bloc for a one-year tenure.
However, President Tinubu could be re-elected for a further year as ECOWAS leaders seek the return of Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso to the bloc.
