Capture Bandits Leader Turji ‘Dead Or Alive’; Defence Minister Orders Troops
The Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has issued a direct order to the troops of Operation Fansar Yamma to capture notorious bandits leader, Bello Turji, either dead or alive.
The minister gave the directive on Thursday during Abubakar’s visit to the One Brigade Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State, where he received briefings on ongoing military operations.
Addressing the troops, Abubakar emphasised the need for swift action, reflecting the urgency of restoring peace to the region.
“There should be no further delay in apprehending Turji,” the minister stated firmly.
His remarks follow progress made by the military in curbing banditry over recent months, an improvement that has not gone unnoticed by President Bola Tinubu.
“President Bola Tinubu has recognised some level of improvement in the operation against terrorists in the region over the last few months,” Abubakar said, encouraging the troops to remain steadfast in their mission.
Zamfara State has been one of the epicenters of banditry in Nigeria, with Turji’s group responsible for numerous attacks on villages and kidnappings.
The minister acknowledged the persistent challenges as bandits continue to terrorise the region’s population.
“President Tinubu has asked me to thank you and encourage you to push harder to end insecurity in these operational areas,” he said.
“He is prepared to provide everything necessary to eradicate insecurity in the Northwest and throughout Nigeria.”
“Are you ready to finish this fight? Are you prepared to end banditry in this country?”
“Bring me Turji, dead or alive,” he added.
