Submit Your Documents 3 Days Before You Come; Senator Bassey Cautions Water Resources.
The Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East, Aniekan Bassey, has cautioned the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation to ensure all necessary documents are submitted three days before appearing before the Senate committee.
On Thursday, Senator Aniekan Bassey joined the Senate Committee on Water Resources and Sanitation in an interactive session with directors of various agencies at the National Assembly.
Naija News House gathered that Senator Bassey made the call when the Senate committee discovered several errors, Plank pages and incomplete documents from some agencies.
NNH reported that the Senate committee was seriously displeased with the agencies over their mannerisms, attitudes, and lack of coordination.
However, the committee sent the agencies back to work on their documents and present them at the next meeting. NNH noticed that Thursday was not the first time the Senate committee had sent the agencies back due to incorrect documents and other issues.
NNH gathered that the committee was particularly upset with one of the directors for answering a call during the meeting.
However some of directors manner has prompting an immediate closed-door meeting with the agencies. Speaking with Journalists after close door meeting, the Chairman of the committee, Senator Engr. Kenneth Eze, said that some agency directors need to learn from their job experiences, believing their next presentation will be improved. When asked about his satisfaction with the presentation, he said the work is ongoing and he cannot conclude until it’s finished.
NNH understands that the session aimed to evaluate key issues and explore collaborative strategies to improve water resource management and sanitation infrastructure across Nigeria.
Discussions centered on enhancing service delivery and addressing challenges faced by agencies in achieving sustainable water and sanitation goals.
NNH also gathered that the committee met with the Honourable Minister of Water Resources on Wednesday and asked them to return next week.
Senator Bassey is the Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development and the member of Water Resources committee.
