Elites forum holds Thanksgiving Mass

Foremost socio-economic group in Nung Ikono Obio uruan local government Area, Akwa ibom State, Elites Forum on Sunday held a Thanksgiving Mass to thank and celebrate God, for His protection and faithfulness in the year 2020.
At the event held at the St. Henry Catholic Church, Nung Ikono Obio, Uruan LGA, with the theme ‘God’s Faithfulness’, the Forum appreciated God for His blessings on members and protection throughout the year 2020, which they noted was turbulent.
Speaking on behalf of his Members, President of Nung Ikono Obio Elites Forum, Hon. Godwin Essien, noted that the Forum was formed more than 18 years ago for the purpose of uniting Nung Ikono Obio people and revealed that the group has consistently held Thanksgiving Services in the last 13 years.
While thanking members of the group for their contributions to the development of Nung Ikono Obio, the President said the group remains committed to the growth and progress of the Community.
He called on parents to allow train their children so as to protect the future of the community and particularly poured encomiums on the CEO of Pipminds International, Mr Emem Alban for his interest in developing the area.
“We know that God likes Thanksgiving. Let’s love ourselves and others. Love will ensure we cooperate for development. Parents please train your children and allow them to come for our training for the sake of our community”, he said.
While praying against untimely demise among members of the group, Hon. Essien announced the donation of new microphones and other musical equipment to the church.
On his part, the Chairman Uruan Local Government Council, Surv. Iniobong Ekpeyong, commend members of the Nung Ikono Obio for togetherness and unity amongst which be noted would also robe-off on the entire Uruan LGA.
Similarly, the CEO of Pipminds International, Mr Emem Alban, while speaking at the event, announced the sponsorship of training for 15 youths of the area on various vocational skills.
To broaden the reach of programme, Alban noted that those trained at the initial stage would in turn train others, revealing that the training programme was aimed at eradicating joblessness and restiveness among the youths.
Earlier in his homily, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Pius Udoh, who preached from Luke 2:22-40 and Genesis 15: 1-6, called on Christians to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ, who he noted was honest, submissive and prayerful.
He lauded the group for always acknowledging God’s faithfulness and for the various renovation works in the church.
The event which was attended by well-meaning sons and daughters of the area, youths, royal fathers and women, featured donations for more development of the church, prayers for Nung Ikono Obio, Uruan LGA, Akwa Ibom State and the Forum.
