Court Dismisses Certificate Forgery Suit Against Edo State Gov. Abuja Federal High Court has dismissed the alleged certificate forgery suit filed by All progressive Congress ( APC) against the governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki.
Th judgement was delivered on Saturday by Hon. Justice Ahmed Mohammed in a suit filed by the APC) against Edo State Governor
The suit filled by APC and Edobor had alleging that Edo State Governor Obaseki presented a forged certificate to seek re-election in the Edo held on September 19, 2020.
According to the plaintiffs, the certificate was issued by the University of Ibadan (IU), and governor Obaseki presented same to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which conducted the poll.

On Thursday lawyer to the plaintiff, Akin Olujimi, adopted his final written address.
However, rejected by Governor Obaseki’s counsel, Ken Mozia, and asked the court to dismiss the suit over what he described as the plaintiff’s failure to prove their case.

Governor Obaseki used to contest and won the governorship election on the platform of the All progressive congress Party (APC), in his first as Edo State Governor, and all APC members was confidently okay with that, but immediately he defected to people democracy party, the same party noticed that he used fake certificate.

The governor got the PDP’s ticket and went ahead to defeat Ize-Iyamu of All progressive Congress ( APC) for the second time to claim the governorship seat.
In 2016 Governor Obaseki had defeated Ize-Iyamu as People democracy party ( PDP) governorship candidate while Obaseki was governorship candidate for All progressive Congress (APC)
