First Day Of Work Apprentice Kidnaps 1-year-old
In a shocking incident, a bag-making apprentice known as Tawa has been accused of kidnapping her boss’s one-year-old child on her very first day at work.
The event unfolded in Osunjela, near Ilesa Garage, Osogbo, where Tawa was introduced to the family by Sodiq, a family friend of the child’s mother.
According to reports, Tawa arrived eager to learn bag-making but allegedly took the child to an undisclosed location shortly after starting.
On that fateful day, she pretended to play with the infant while also accompanying the child’s ten-year-old sister, who had been sent on an errand. Tawa asked the older sibling to deliver potatoes to their mother, only to vanish with the one-year-old.
Kehinde Adeleke, spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State, confirmed the disturbing details of the case.
She expressed deep concern about the increasing incidents of child abduction in the region, noting a recent trend in similar cases.
Just last month, a three-year-old child went missing on Ifesowapo Street in Owode, Osogbo, with no leads on their whereabouts.
Additionally, a five-month-old girl belonging to deaf and dumb parents was kidnapped on August 27 while her mother was gathering firewood in Agbeye town, Odo-Otin local government area. The child was left under a tree for a brief moment, only to disappear when the mother returned to breastfeed.
Adeleke emphasized the urgent need for heightened vigilance and community awareness regarding child safety. The NSCDC continues to investigate the kidnapping case, working to ensure the safe return of the child and bring the perpetrator to justice.
