Information reaching Naija News House says that Army Chief’s Daughter Killed, Son Arrested
A 30-year-old Ghanaian woman, Karen Aphour alias Lamisi Ayinpoka, has been stabbed multiple times to death by her brother, 26-year-old Andy Aphour, over household chores, in Evanston, a community in Illinois, USA.
According to the Evanston Police, Karen, who used to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration in Ghana, was found in a residence with “several stab wounds” and was pronounced dead on Saturday, after she was transported to the St. Francis Hospital.
The two, according to The Herald’s information, are the children of Brigadier-General Joseph Aphour, General Officer Commanding – Central Command headquarters in Kumasi.
Brigadier-General Aphour was at last year’s Three-Member Committee that investigated the clashes between the youth of Ejura Sekyeredumase and the state security including the military leading to scores of injuries and the death of two persons on 29th June.
During the 2020 General Election, security including soldiers under Brigadier-General Aphour, shot and killed some persons at Techiman South and left many injured when they opened fire on persons believed to be NDC supporters at a collation center in the constituency in the Bono East Region.
They are said to be living with their mother in the US, together with their two other siblings, while their father lives in Ghana, working with the Ghana Armed Forces
Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Callan Avenue around 9:20 a.m. and found Karen with “several stab wounds,” according to police.
Witnesses informed responding officers that the offender was Karen’s brother, 26-year-old Andy Aphour. Andy was still in the residence and was taken into custody by Evanston Police without incident.
During the investigation, Andy admitted to stabbing Karen, police said. A verbal dispute over routine household chores happened before the stabbing. Witness statements corroborated Andy’s admission.
It added that Andy was charged with murder on Sunday, April 17, 2022, after the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges.
Karen Aphour was a graduate of the University of Ghana and the Mfantsiman Girls Senior High in the Central Region.
Some of her friends and former colleagues at the Ministry have taken to her social media page to mourn her sudden demise.
