Bakassi’ Militants Issue Demands To Tinubu Govt, Threaten Attacks On Oil Facilities If…..
A militant group identified as Niger Delta ‘Rothweliers of Bakassi Peninsular’ has reeled out some demands for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The group said the demands should be quickly handled to avert destructive attacks on oil and gas infrastructure in the country.
The group also threatened to stop every business transaction at the border if nothing is done about their demands.
The threat was conveyed in a statement jointly signed by General Godspower, aka Border King, General Tingass and Black General, aka Obong Ekpe.
The group alleged that the government is depriving them of their rights, stating that almost all their Nigerian properties in Bakassi Peninsula have been sold to Cameroon as a result of the “dubious lives and self-centeredness of the Nigerian government”.
They alleged that some people personalise their crude oil and sell them to other nations, while they are faced with health challenges, educational setback, high rate of infection disease, farmland pollution, among others.
The statement reads in part, “We, the Niger Delta Rothweliers of Bakassi Peninsular, are not just a name for prank, but we are illustrations and men of integrity, not slaves or sea pirates. Since 1st October 1960, we were free from the hands of the so-called white men, and never in our lives are we going to put ourselves in those shoes of captivity again.
“What we are trying to say is that we, the border Rothweliers, are not delighted about the way your government are depriving us of our rights and those things rightful belongs to us. But you people used authority over us and dragged us to the mud. Just look at the so-called Cameroon government, almost all our Nigerian properties in Bakassi panisular (sic) have been sold to them.
“In the other way round, it is as the result of the dubious lives and self-centered of the Nigerian government that is why they sold our prestige. when other countries like Cameroonians come to our places in Nigeria, we take them as friends and brothers and sisters, but when we the Nigerians travelled to other countries, mostly Cameroon, they take us like intruders and slaves for no reasons.
“We are tired of all those things, and we are pleading for the government to act on time before properties being damaged, and the government of procrastination is disease to the society.
“People personalize our crude oil and sell them out to other nations, not knowing that if they should put those natural resources into the youth empowerment, there will be no notorious youths in Bakassi Peninsula again.
“Today we are facing health challenges, educational set back including high rates of infection disease, farmland pollutions, poor maternal and child health indicators and lot more to mentions.
“In our national anthem we promise to serve our father land with love and strength and faith. But how can we do all those things without a good living?
“The amnesty that you, the Nigerian government granted, is not beneficial anymore. Some people are enjoying it while some people are lamenting. So we, the Bakassi Rothweliers, are using this medium to beseech Mr President and the governor of the state to have a rethink towards us, so that everything will be at equilibrium.
“Equilibrium in the sense that at every month end each member of the Bakassi Rothweliers will be receiving something tangible as Niger Delta is concerned. If not, we will put attack on all the oil installations, and no business transaction will take place in this border again. Because more generations are coming in respect of this freedom.
“Nigeria Government should note that talks and fake promises will not pave way to peace in Bakassi peninsula,” the statement added.
