Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, says it has arrested one Salman Umar Hudu, for presenting himself as its Executive Chairman.
The chairman of the agency is Abdulrasheed Bawa.
A statement by the EFCC’s Head Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, on Tuesday, said that Hudu, a 38-year-old indigene of Kano, was arrested at a hotel in Abuja.
He was accused of falsely presenting himself as “EFCC Chairman and other officers of the Commission, and obtaining N100,000 from a person he convinced that he can ‘handle’ any matter with the EFCC”.
According to Uwujaren, the suspect has given the anti-graft agency useful information and will be charged after its investigation has been concluded.
