Nigerian Government Made Us Suffer, Collected Millions Of Naira Before Releasing Dead Bodies Of My Brother, Wife, Children Crushed By Container To Family,’ Woman Laments
A Nigerian woman, Okoli Ijeoma Jacob, has lamented how the Lagos State government allegedly made them suffer before they could get the remains of her relations who were crushed to death by a container in the Ojuelegba area of the state earlier this year.
According to her, the family paid millions of Naira before the bodies of their loved ones were released to them.
Jacob said her brother, wife and children died when a container-laden truck fell on a commercial bus at Ojuelegba Bridge in Lagos on January 29, 2023.
No fewer than nine persons were crushed to death on that fateful day when a 20ft laden container fell on a commercial bus in the Ojuelegba area of the state.
It was gathered that the commercial bus was picking up passengers at the bus stop along the Ojuelegba Bridge when the truck lost control and fell over the side of the bridge.
Jacob, who said she is a relative of one of the deceased, Pastor Emeka Okoli, said the cleric died alongside his wife and two children. She lamented that the death of her brother made her see the reality of Nigeria and how “wicked” its leaders are as the Lagos State government subjected them to acute suffering and made them spend millions of Naira before releasing the dead bodies to them for burial.
On Facebook, she wrote, “My brother’s death and his family opened my eyes to see the wickedness of this country and our leaders. We suffered in the hands of Lagos state governments just to carry their corpse. We spend millions before their corpse were released.
“I prayed bitterly with a broken heart that all of them will suffer the same fate, I mean all and no exception. God will punish them all for the trauma they caused my family, the suffering.
“They cut the life of my brother and his family short and still stressed the life out of us including our pocket. We know the length we went, including the lawyers involved before they even look at us. I only pity the citizens fighting for this wicked politicians, they love no one. Nigeria is not a place to live, it is death zone looking for who to kill.
“I never know I will someday post this kind of heartbreaking pictures on my wall. Emeka Nwannem and his family are gone forever. Their generation wiped off the surface of this earth because of a use….less government, Nigeria happened to us
“My brother and his family would have been alive enjoying their lives today if they were in another country, but Nigeria cut their lives short. A prayer warrior and his family is gone
“An evangelist and his family are no more. Our pastor and Gods own servant gone with his family. It was a festival of weeping that I can’t control myself but keep asking God why? I have never felt this terrible and pained all through my life. I miss you Bro. Farewell.”
Earlier, Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, who described himself as Jacob’s friend, posted, “When the news broke two months ago that again, a container fell off the Ojulegba Bridge, crushing many innocent Nigerians to death, the number of deaths reported were just statistics as many Nigerians shrugged off the news and moved on with their lives.
“But these needless deaths are not statistics; a man, his wife, and kids were wiped out that day and crushed to death by the unfortunate container.
“The late Emeka Okoli was a committed family man and a prayer warrior who was with his family inside his car when the container crushed them to death in Ojuegelgba Bridge.
“A generation was wiped out in one swoop! just like that. Another needless death caused by the dysfunction called Nigeria. One prayer I pray every morning before I leave my house is this: may Nigeria not happen to me today.
“A valid prayer because the fears are real. What the people of Lagos owe the memories of Emeka, his wife, and his innocent kids crushed to death in the most painful way is to vote right this Saturday.
“The late Emeka, his wife, and the kids were committed to Mother Earth this afternoon at their native site in Anambra State, to the wailing and gnashing of teeth of the relatives left behind to mourn them.
“It is well with Lagos. To my sister and friend Okoli Ijeoma Jacob whose brother and family were the victims in question, please cheer up and accept my condolences.
“May their souls rest in peace, Amen.”
