Retire And Rest, Don’t Cause Confusion; Nigerian Blogger, Dee Knocks Adeboye
Nigerian Blogger, Dominic Edet Edem, popularly known as Dee, has called on Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), to retire and go home. Dee believes it’s better for Adeboye to retire graciously than face insults from his children.
Dee made the call on Saturday while reacting to Adeboye’s controversial statements on the state of the nation. Adeboye claimed the economic problems Nigerians face, including the Naira’s decline, were deliberately caused by those opposing President Bola Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal.
Ibom Focus had earlier reported that the cleric in a video of one of his sermons said that though Nigerians had been having financial challenges before the President came into power, those who were benefitting from fuel subsidy for petrol importation were not happy with Tinubu and caused the Naira depreciation.
Adeboye had said that if he and some people who joined him had not prayed and God answered their prayers and intervened, by now, $1 would have been N10,000.
Dee countered that Adeboye’s statements offend the sensibilities of right-thinking members of society, noting that supporting an “incompetent and oppressive government” mocks Christianity.
“Please go home and rest,” “You recently claimed to have drunk tea with God, and now you’re making more controversial statements that add no economic value. Why do pastors lie more than Satan?”
Dee further stated, “Many Nigerians have stopped attending church due to the hypocrisy and convenience of religious leaders. Our pastors are no longer sincere; people trust politicians more. Consider Pastor Enenche’s wife saying, ‘Once you miss paying tithe, you return to square one.’ What’s happening to Christianity? There’s no respect for God anymore.”
