Edo Governorship Election: Party Agents Caught With Pre-Filled Results Sheets
Party agents from both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been observed with pre-filled results sheets and ballot papers in the ongoing Edo State governorship election.
Some of the fake result sheets were seen with the agents by SaharaReporters on Saturday showing how the culprits filled them haphazardly and intended to smuggle them into the real results.
Earlier, the police in a statement signed by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer on Saturday said that police operatives conducted synchronised raids on identified black spots, leading to the arrest of two key suspects: Emotingham Godspower (25) and Farawei Isaac (27), both from Ufunama community in Ovia South West LGA.
Naija News House had reported that the police said the suspects, connected to a larger network involving one “Atiku” and a kingpin known as “the boss,” were apprehended at So Cash guest house in Ekpoma.
Authorities recovered “a substantial amount of cash and incriminating items,” including “a list of voters’ names with corresponding monetary values, a collection of pre-filled ballot papers, and a set of fake identification cards.”
Additionally, six other suspects—Suleiman Abdurahim, Fatima Yakubu, Yusuf Aminat (52), Salihu Lukman (54), and Safianu Saratu (32)—were arrested at Aibotse Secondary School beside Meremu Hotel in Auchi for engaging in vote buying. This group was found with “a large sum of money, a cache of weapons, and a detailed plan outlining strategies for voter intimidation.”
A fake journalist, claiming to be a staff member of a leading Nigerian television station, was also apprehended, underscoring the extent of this criminal network.
