Edo Guber Poll: INEC Vows To Investigate Wrong Figures
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared its willingness to investigate the alleged input of wrong figures into polling unit results in the ongoing governorship election in Edo State.
The commission mentioned this in a press statement issued on Saturday night, saying it has received two complaints of manipulation of results by its officials.
The statement reads: “The Commission’s attention has been drawn to an allegation of wrong figures entered into polling unit result sheets in the ongoing Edo State Governorship election.
“This is the second complaint we have received out of the 4,519 polling units used for the election.
“The Commission will immediately investigate the matter and deal with any proven infraction,” the statement added.
Naija News House had reported how a result sheet purportedly issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from Etsako Polling Unit in Edo State revealed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered 352 votes, despite only 213 accredited voters.
This incident cast doubts on the credibility of the ongoing governorship election in the state.
This discrepancy of 280 votes in the result sheet has added more truthfulness to the allegation of rigging against All Progressive Congress.
According to the sheet, 493 voters were registered at the polling unit, with 213 voters accredited.
