A’Ibom LG Elections: Hon. Ekpenyong Emerges PDP Chairmanship Hopeful
Hon. surveyor Iniobong Ekpenyong, The Transition Committee Chairman for Uruan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom state, has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ahead of the October 5th Local Government Election in Akwa Ibom State.
Surv. Ekpenyong polled 39 valid votes from accredited Adhoc delegates from the 13 wards during a peaceful delegate primary election held on Saturday, August 3, 2023, at the Idu Council Secretariat, to emerged as the party’s flag bearer.
In his acceptance speech, the PDP candidate thanked the party, stakeholders for their support, describing his election as a victory for party and for Uruan people while appealing for their continued support as the Local Government Election approaches.
However, the senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District / Political Leader of Uruan, Senator Aniekan Bassey, Commissioner for Internal security/ waterways, Gen. Koko Essien, applauded Governor Umo Eno for his proactive leadership in the state, as well as stakeholders cooperation for the success of the exercise.
The delegate nomination exercise was witnessed by the Local Government Returning officer; Engr Akan Etuk, Senator Representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District / Political leader of Uruan; Senator Aniekan Bassey, Commissioner for Internal Security and waterways; Gen. Koko Essien (Rtd), Zonal leaders, Political Adviser to the Gov.; Akparawa Godwin Ntukude, stakeholders, security personnel, among others.
The Akwa Ibom State Independence Electoral Commission witnessed the exercise, which included primary elections for councilor positions in the PDP’s 13 wards in Uruan.
