Nigerian Police Sends Warning To Warns Vigilante, Hunters Over Weapons, Excessive Force
The Nigeria Police have cautioned the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) against using unlicensed weapons and excessive force.
Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, gave the warning in a meeting with the security groups.
He appreciated the operatives for their efforts in crime fighting across the state but emphasised that working in synergy with security agencies will achieve peace faster in the state.
The CP called on the two outfits to continue to give maximum cooperation as the issue of security is a collective responsibility.
He further cautioned the members against the uncontrolled use of uniforms, holding dangerous weapons, use of excessive force and taking laws into their hands.
The CP also directed them to continue to work closely with Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in their jurisdictions.
The heads of the two security outfits promised to work closely with the police for better protection of the lives and properties of people in the state.
