EXPOSED: Man Who Made Jonathan Lose 2015 Elections
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the Nigeria’s Former President, lost his second term attempt at the Presidency in 2015 because of Bukola Saraki, says Femi Fani-Kayode.
The former aviation minister claimed that Saraki, a former Senate President and ex-governor of Kwara, led a “rebellion” against Jonathan which saw PDP governors dumping the then-ruling party to join the opposition. That political insurrection cost Jonathan the 2015 presidential election, Fani-Kayode said in a tweet on Thursday.
His tweet followed rumours that Jonatan was on the verge of leaving the PDP. According to Fani-Kayode, Saraki who allegedly caused a blow to Jonathan’s return to Aso Rock was the same man who has now led others to plead with the former President not to abandon the PDP.
“Interesting to note that the man thet led the team to GEJ’s house to appeal to him not to leave the PDP yesterday is the same man that led the rebellion against him & the defection of Governors from the same party in 2014 & cost him the 2015 presidential election,” Fani-Kayode said. “What an irony!”
Meanwhile, amid the defection rumours of the former President, Saraki revealed after he had led party members to meet him, that Jonatan was ready to continue in the party.
He tweeted after the meeting: “As part of our efforts to listen to the concerns of key stakeholders across our great party, this afternoon, the @OfficialPDPNig Reconciliation & Strategy Committee is meeting with our immediate past President, H.E. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (@GEJonathan).
“At the meeting with President @GEJonathan earlier today, he reassured the members of the @OfficialPDPNig’s Reconciliation & Strategy Committee of his strong commitment to the party — stating that he is ready to offer his time, experience and resources to strengthen the party.”
