FCT Council Polls: APC Fires Gwagwalada Chair, Presents New Candidate
Following the FCT Council Polls, information reaching Naija News House says that APC Fires Gwagwalada Chair, Presents New Candidate
The Gwagwalada Area Council chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended the incumbent Chairman of the council, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha, over anti-party activities.
With the suspension of Alhaji Adamu on the heels of council polls in the FCT, the FCT Minister of State, Hajiaya Ramatu Tijani Aliyu, has presented the party’s flag to the party’s candidates in the council, including Abubakar Jibril Giri as the chairmanship candidate for the council in the February 12 council polls.
City News reports that there has been a cold war between the incumbent chairman of the council and the party hierarchy in the FCT.
A similar scenario is playing out in both the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Abaji, where two candidates are parading themselves in each as the APC candidates for the forthcoming polls.
The suspension of the Gwagwalada chairman, which was contained in a letter signed by the Dobi Ward Chairman of APC, Jibrin Gado, and Secretary, Aliyu Jibrin, was sent to the local government council, FCTA and the North Central chapter of the party, as well as the national secretary of the party.

A copy of the letter which was obtained by City News, indicated that the suspension of the chairman was done upon receiving a petition from one Malam Umaru Dobi who accused the chairman of anti-party, as well as impunity.
“And upon receipt of the petition, the party executives set up a committee that investigated the allegations and found you culpable and hereby suspend you based on the provision of Article 21b (i-iv),” the letter read in part.
When contacted, the embattled Alhaji Adamu said he was not told of his offence before such decision was taken.
