The Federal Government has declared free train rides for citizens from December 24 to January 4, 2022.
In an interview with Newsmen on Friday in Abuja, Mr Fidet Okhiria, Managing Director, Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), revealed this.
“The decision was made in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation to make it easier for citizens to travel during the holiday season.” “This is to help reduce transportation costs and make it easier for citizens to move around during the holiday season.”
However, passengers are advised to obtain their tickets for free from appropriate quarters in order to gain access and board the trains. All passengers are also reminded to follow COVID-19 rules, which include wearing a face mask and washing and sanitizing their hands.
He also reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to ensuring passenger and train safety throughout the period.
