On Tuesday, the Senate approved Olayemi Cardoso’s appointment as the actual Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Cardoso’s nomination as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria for a term of five years at the outset was authorized by President Bola Tinubu on September 15 in anticipation of the Senate’s confirmation. He will take over for Godwin Emefiele, who reportedly resigned from his position in August after the President suspended him.
Cardoso, a banker, chartered stockbroker, and expert in public policy, has worked for more than 40 years as a leader and pioneer in the public, private, and development sectors.
