Gang Leader Killed In Abuja As Paramilitary Group Repels Attack On Fish Farm
The suspected leader of a criminal gang popular called ‘Bush Papa’ has reportedly been killed by members of Man O’ War during an attack on a fish farm in the area.
The gang is notorious for terrorising the residents of Usman Dam in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja in Nigeria.
Man O’ War Nigeria is a paramilitary organisation established by the Federal Government, through the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre Act as empowered by its enabling ordinance.
The incident happened on Saturday at about 3:00 am when the robbers allegedly invaded some fish farms in the area in an attempt to steal.
It was gathered that the robbers met their waterloo when they sneaked into Jigma Eco Farm and met stiff resistance from security operatives guarding the farm who had laid an ambush for them.
The situation forced other members of the gang to take to their heels following a gun duel that ensued but the ring leader was not lucky as he was gunned down in the process.
A source who spoke to SaharaReporters said the robbers on Thursday made an attempt to enter the farm but were resisted and driven away. The robbers were said to have regrouped to carry out another attack.
The source said, “They first came on Thursday but couldn’t penetrate as they were chased away by the Man O’ War. They then came at night on Saturday to carry out their stealing acts. Man O’ War on routine duty in the night discovered their presence.
“They approached them and they started to attack the Man O’ War who responded to their attacks. While the others made away, the ring leader was not lucky enough as he was shot and died.”
The matter was said to have been reported at Dutse police station and the body of the robber has been evacuated.
The FCT police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh was not available for comment as repeated calls to her mobile phone were not answered.
