You Lacked Empathy For Youths’; Nigerian Governor Blasts Tinubu Over Empty Speech
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has expressed disappointment with President Bola Tinubu for not consulting state governors before his recent nationwide address on #EndBadGovernanace protests.
Mohammed, addressing journalists after an emergency security council meeting, expressed his frustration that Tinubu’s speech did not reflect the true state of affairs.
The governor highlighted a significant disconnect between the government and the people.
Mohammed noted that the President’s speech lacked substantive content and failed to consider the perspectives of governors, who are directly engaged with local issues, according to Daily Post.
He described the President’s speech as “very empty,” adding that it lacked “empathy or sympathy to the youth.”
He emphasised that a consultation with governors could have provided a more accurate picture of the current situation and needs.
The governor accused the President of escalating the crisis with a speech that showed little empathy towards the youth and the protests.
He stressed that governors, along with local officials, have a critical understanding of local issues and should have been involved in shaping the address.
In response to the violence and vandalism in Katagum Local Government Area, the Bauchi State government imposed a 24-hour curfew.
Mohammed assured that his administration is committed to preventing further unrest and urged citizens to maintain peace and stability. He pointed out that the protests reflect widespread dissatisfaction with government performance and a failure to meet constitutional responsibilities.
