20 women abducted at naming ceremony. It has been reported that at least 20 women were reportedly kidnapped by armed bandits while attending a naming ceremony at Gidan Bido village, Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
A resident of Dandume who pleaded anonymity told media that the incident occurred on Friday around 1am.
“My brother’s wife, who is a blood relative of the nursing mother, was prevented from going to the village on the fateful day.
But when she went there the following day, she was told about the incident,” he said.
In a related development, gunmen also attacked and kidnapped five men at Unguwar Bawa village of Dandume LGA on Saturday.
A resident who confided in media said the member representing Dandume LGA in the Katsina State House of Assembly is from Unguwar Bawa, where the incident took place.
However, when contacted, the police spokesperson in Katsina, SP Gambo Isah, said people of the state should disregard the news making round

“I just spoke with the DPO Dandume and he stated that there was no incident of such nature in his area of responsibility.
“We should be mindful of social media reporters which sometimes negate from the real norms and ethics of this noble profession – journalism,” he warned
“Social media reporters should please either go to the scene of the crime and do real-time investigative reporting or seek confirmation from the appropriate authority,” he added.
