Netanyahu Appeals To US Congress, Says Give Us More Weapons To Quickly Eliminate Hamas Militants
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that his country has the full support of the United States of America in the ongoing war against Hamas militants in Gaza.
Netanyahu said this while giving his speech on Wednesday before the US Congress, appealing to the Joe Biden’s administration to supply his country with more weapons as it attempts to finalise its war with Hamas.
“America has our back, give us the tools faster, and we’ll finish the job faster,” he said.
He said the US Government has provided his government with military assistance which they have repaid with critical intelligence that saved many lives in return.
“May God bless Israel, may God bless America, and may God bless the great alliance between Israel and America forever,” he said.
Netanyahu’s speech to Congress sparked outrage when he labelled anti-war protesters as “Iran’s useful idiots,” suggesting they were backed by the Iranian government.
This contentious remark came amid allegations of Iran funding anti-Israel protests in the US.
It was earlier reported that five individuals were arrested by US Capitol Police for disrupting Netanyahu’s address, which drew a massive crowd of thousands to Washington in protest.
The demonstration turned heated, with police deploying pepper spray to prevent protesters from breaching the designated perimeter. The tense confrontation highlights the intense emotions and deep divisions surrounding Netanyahu’s visit and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
A large crowd of anti-Israel protesters attempted to storm the Capitol Building, leading to a chaotic scene.
The arrests and Netanyahu’s remarks highlight the tense atmosphere surrounding the Israeli leader’s visit to Congress.
US Capitol Police posted on X, “Part of the crowd has started to become violent at First Street and Constitution Avenue, NW. The crowd failed to obey our order to move back from our police line. We are deploying pepper spray towards anyone trying to break the law and cross that line.
“Five people in the House Gallery just disrupted the Address during the Joint Meeting. All of them were immediately removed from the Gallery and arrested. Disrupting the Congress and demonstrating in the Congressional Buildings is against the law.
“Our officers just reported that the final number of arrests in the House Galleries was a total of six people for D.C. Code §10-503.16(b)(2), Unlawful Conduct.”
