WATCH VIDEO: Abroad-based Man Destroys His Nigerian Passport After Witnessing Manipulation In 2023 Election
A Nigerian man living abroad has destroyed his international passport in frustration after witnessing what happened during the 2023 general elections.
The presidential and governorship elections which held on February 25 and March 18 respectively were marred by several cases of violence, voter suppression and manipulation.
He shared a video of him denouncing his Nigerian citizenship, saying that he realises the country can never be redeemed.
The disappointed man tore up his Nigerian passport into pieces and stressed that he decided to no longer be associated with the country.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party deputy governorship candidate in Lagos State, Funke Akindele, has deleted all posts relating to the gubernatorial elections and her political career from her Instagram page.
A check on Monday showed that the movie star left only her film production promotional content and as well as celebratory posts for notable social events.
Funke, who once declared confidently that she has 20 million followers who could vote for her, currently has 15.7 million followers on Instagram.
She had made the statement when asked during an interview if she believes she and the PDP governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor) can win the election.
Funke said: “I have the numbers, I have fans and followers and I’m true to myself. I have more than 20m fans on social media and also at the grassroots level.
“I have fans at the grassroots level outside Ikorodu ready to support me and I’m true to myself. What I’m coming in is to change the lives of Lagosians. I’m here to provide solutions in Lagos. I’m in the system, I’m in the pain, we all know where the shoe pinches us.”
Her decision to delete the political posts from IG follows the Sunday night declaration of incumbent governor and All Progressives Congress candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as winner of the gubernatorial election.
READ: Women will help me win 2023 presidential election – Only female candidate
In an earlier post, she sent a message to women around the world, wishing them Happy International Women’s Day as the ‘incoming Deputy Governor of Lagos State.’
The post read; You are my hero of Women’s Day because you are consistent, resilient & dogged, you fall 13 times & get up 14 times. You constantly remind me that failure in certain areas of your life doesn’t define you as a person.
You exude confidence, competence, strength, and compassion all while maintaining beauty. You have succeeded in your career for over 2 decades, which means you clearly understand how to maneuver terrain. You never let anyone or any situation define you, you are an actor, producer, all-round entertainer, mother, entrepreneur, & politician.
You will succeed in this quest because, it will be a motivation to the average Nigerian/African girl to dream bigger, for her to know that her background should not keep her back to the ground. For her to know that a woman cannot be boxed or defined. Your ability to regroup, reorganize, restructure & re-strategize should be studied. I believe in you, i believe in the sincerity of purpose of your political ambitions.
Let me just remind you, Ore your dreams are 100% valid, don’t let anybody downplay your dream or tell you different, or try to make you feel inferior or less than a befitting candidate. It hasn’t been done before is not an excuse otherwise the world will remain stagnant. Let it be known that I stand with you with my full chest, as a full Lagos boy, bred & brought up in Surulere.
