How I Survived Labour Party, Peter Obi’s Wave In South-East – Abaribe Speaks After Winning Senatorial Seat
Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has said that the strong wave brought into the Nigerian politics by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and his running mate, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, almost consumed everybody in the South-East region of the country.
Speaking to newsmen after receiving his certificate of return in Abuja, Abaribe who is representing Abia South Senatorial District in the 9th Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) expressed gratitude to the people of his senatorial district for helping him to survive “Obi-Datti” wave.
Abaribe said that elections in the country were going on well until “Obi-Datti” presidential ticket brought a tsunami that almost consumed everybody in the Eastern part of the country.
He said he was, however, able to survive the wave and emerge a winner of Senatorial version of the February 25, 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Abaribe said, “It was a nice election and was going normally until we saw the OBIDATTI wave in the South-East and it almost consumed everybody and it showed me the love that our people have for me because I was able to survive that wave.”
Abaribe emerged winner in his senatorial district after polling a total of 49,903 votes to defeat his closest contenders, Chinedu Onyeizu of the Labour Party (LP) who scored a total of 43,903 and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who secured a total of 28,422 votes.
