2027: Nigerians Will Re-elect Tinubu Despite Social Media Criticism – Idris

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in 2027, declaring that Nigerians love the president despite criticisms on social media.

Idris spoke on Saturday at the APC presidential campaign flag-off rally in Kaduna State, where he defended the administration’s policies and pointed to the large gathering as evidence of Tinubu’s popularity.
The minister urged Nigerians not to judge the president’s acceptance solely by social media discussions or criticisms from opposition parties.
“We have always been saying this: forget about all the social media news, forget about all the talk from the opposition. Asiwaju is loved by Nigerians,” he said.
He argued that the turnout at the rally reflected the level of support Tinubu enjoys among Nigerians and demonstrated the willingness of supporters to back his reform agenda.
Idris also highlighted Kaduna’s historical importance as the former capital of Northern Nigeria, describing the state as an appropriate location for the campaign’s formal launch.
While admitting that Nigerians were still experiencing economic challenges, the minister maintained that the government’s policies would eventually produce positive results.
He said the administration was focused on consolidating the progress already made and steering the country towards economic growth and improved living conditions.
“There may be challenges at this moment, but we are moving away from that. We are consolidating on progress, and Nigeria is going to be better for it,” he added.
The minister further expressed optimism that the administration’s reform programme would deliver the prosperity promised by Tinubu, urging supporters to remain committed to the president’s vision.
He predicted victory for the president in the 2027 election, saying another term would allow the administration to continue implementing its policies.
“Nigeria will vote President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the second time, and Nigeria is going to march towards the prosperity that the president has promised all Nigerians,” Idris said.
Meanwhile, Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals and spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, described the rally as a strong indication of the ruling party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections.
Alake said the excitement displayed by the crowd suggested that the party’s mobilisation efforts could translate into significant electoral support.
He expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, praising the president for taking what he described as difficult but necessary decisions to address Nigeria’s economic problems.
According to Alake, the reforms were aimed at correcting longstanding challenges and creating a stronger foundation for sustainable economic development.
He also dismissed concerns about the pace of the reforms’ impact, insisting that Nigerians were gradually beginning to see their benefits.
“Now, it is the season for prosperity. Nigerians are beginning to see the results of those reforms, and they have been trickling in, and they will continue to trickle in,” Alake said.
He added that the APC remained optimistic about Tinubu’s re-election prospects, arguing that the administration’s policies would continue to create opportunities and move Nigeria towards prosperity.
My recommendation: Use Version 1 for a straightforward news report. Version 2 is suitable if you want to emphasise Tinubu’s 2027 re-election prospects and the minister’s dismissal of social media criticism.
