Secondary School Student Kill In Abuja
A 19-year-old secondary school student, residing in Kubwa town in the FCT, has been stabbed to death, allegedly by her co-tenant.
The deceased, Salma Yunusa, was said to be living under the care of her elder sister, one Bilikisu Yunusa, around Byazhin area in the town.
It was learnt that the police had arrested the suspect, one Immaculate Chukwudi, who lives with them in the same compound as a co-tenant.
The deceased’s sister, Bilikisu, while speaking on Sunday, said there was an argument between the suspect and another male tenant simply called Pastor and she, Bilikisu, tried to intervene.
She said, ‘’I saw the pastor parking off his clothes that he washed, even though they were yet to dry and when I tried to find out why, he simply told me that it’s the suspect that demanded it. I commended his decision, only for the woman to come out and threatened to deal with me, accusing me of being involved in the matter. She brought out a knife later around 10 pm in the night, and continued to make some noise in the house.
‘’In the following morning, I went to my drum to fetch water, but the woman approached again and spit over the water. My younger sister (the deceased) came out from the room, and after informing her about the development, she immediately threw away the water on the ground, which seemed to have annoyed the suspect. So, the suspect left only for her to return with a bucket filled with water and emptied it on my sister.
‘’As my sister was trying to clear her face from the water, she brought out a knife and stabbed her on the chest. I rushed her to the Kubwa General Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.’’
Bilikisu said the police were informed about the incident and that they came down to the house and got the suspect arrested.
It was learnt that the deceased was buried last Wednesday at her home town in Ajagwumu in Dekina LGA of Kogi State.
When contacted, the FCT police command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident, said the matter was still being investigated, adding that the suspect would soon be charged to court.
