Information reaching Naija News House says that APC Asks Tinubu To Sack Keyamo, Fani-Kayode, Others
The Coalition of All Progressives Congress, APC, Support Groups, an umbrella body for all registered support groups of the party has called on the President-Elect Bola Tinubu, to immediately dissolve the Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, saying it has out-stayed its usefulness.
A Press statement signed by Dele Fulani, a spokesperson for the group advise Tinubu to immediately appoint an official spokesperson for the office of the President-Elect, in the interim, through whom only all official communications relating to the President-Elect shall be communicated to the public.
The groups appreciated the leadership and the formidable team at the Presidential Campaign Council for their strategic, systematic, and articulate approach with which the party’s presidential campaign was coordinated.
The statement reads:
“Now that elections are over, it is expedient that deliberate effort must be actioned at moderating all forms of communications and conversations emanating from our party and its fold so as to calm nerves and douse the tensions that have already built up in the nation before and after the outcome of the general elections.
“Our nation needs to heal from the wounds of ethno-religious disharmony and politics of bitterness that highlighted the electioneering period and that are now posing existential threat to our cooperate existence as a people.
“We do not need, at this point, any exchange of verbal fireworks with the opposition that could only result in further heating up the polity and inflame embers of ethno-religious crisis.
” What we are currently experiencing with some members of the Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, issuing statements and counter-statements in response to vituperations from the opposition is unnecessary and uncalled for.
“We are not preparing for another election and as such, we need them to sheath their swords and rather direct the energy to issues bordering on reconciliation and unification as initiated by the President-Elect, Asiwaju.
” As stakeholders of this great party, we make bold to say that the job of the PCC is done and dusted, and we hereby call on the President-Elect to immediately disband and dissolve the Presidential Campaign Council as it has out-stayed its usefulness.
” We also wish to advise Asiwaju to immediately appoint an official spokesperson for the office of the President-Elect, in the interim, through whom only all official communications relating to the President-Elect shall be communicated to the public.”
Speaking on the leadership of the 10th National Assembly, the Coalition pleaded with the leadership of the party to, without any hesitation or further delay, zone the position of Senate President to the Southeast based on the principle of justice, fairness and equity it stands for.
“We implore our leaders to disregard the skewed narratives from certain political merchants pushing to disqualify the Southeast with the excuse that the zone has not contributed anything to the party’s success in this election.
” This is democracy and we must be seen to be fair to all regardless of whatever votes the zone contributed to the presidential election. From past records, all other zones appeared to have been well taken care of in the scheme of things by the party with the exception of the Southeast which has however remained a zone that has not been treated fairly particularly when it comes to political leadership in this country.
The coalition also called on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Labour Party, LP, to embrace peace and tranquility and follow the rule of law in seeking redress against the outcome of the election.
