Trump Shooting Is ‘Consequence’ Of Comparing Ex-President To Hitler, Says Ex-Democratic Congresswoman
Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman, has weighed in on the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, suggesting that the violence is a predictable outcome of inflammatory rhetoric that compares Trump to Adolf Hitler, the former dictator of Nazi Germany.
Gabbard argued that such rhetoric has contributed to a toxic atmosphere and questioned the wisdom of using such language to describe Trump.
BBC quoted her as saying that the shooting is a “logical consequence of repeatedly comparing” the former president to Adolf Hitler.
She said, “After all, if Trump truly was another Hitler, wouldn’t it be their moral duty to assassinate him?” adding that she was praying for Trump, “and our country”.
Ibom Focus earlier reported that Trump, who is the current Republican presidential candidate, was injured in an assassination attempt during a campaign rally and was dramatically escorted off stage by U.S. Secret Service members after gunshots rang out in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
The assassination attempt occurred at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Trump was shot in the ear and was seen with blood dripping on his face.
The FBI is leading the investigation, and the suspected shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was shot dead by the Secret Service.
One spectator was killed at the rally and two others were critically injured, while a witness told the BBC that he saw a man with a rifle crawling on a roof before shots rang out, and that he tried to warn police.
