Why Buhari Meets With INEC Chairman, Commissioners At Aso Rock
Information has it that, President Muhammadu Buhari met with the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, and five other commissioners on Tuesday.
The meeting, which was revealed in a tweet by the Presidency, was held at the First Lady’s conference room at the State House in Abuja.
The meeting came on the heels of attacks on INEC facilities and offices in some states, mostly in the South.
Speaking at the meeting, Buhari
categorically stated that those who want to destroy his government will be receive the shock of their lives as his administration will do everything possible to ensure they fail.
He also said that despite attacks on INEC facilities, the federal government will reimburse the commission with all they need to conduct the 2023 general elections.
Those who attended the meeting were the Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; and INEC National Commissioners including Festus Okoye and May Agbamuche-Mbu.
