BREAKING: Yayaha Bello Arrives Court Amidst Tight
The immediate past Kogi State governor, Yahaya Belo, has arrived the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the hearing of his bail application and those of his co-defendants before Justice Marryanne Anenih, sitting at Maitama, Abuja.
The former governor, who was remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on November 27 upon his arraignment before the court, was brought to the court by operatives of the Commission amidst tight security.
Unlike what happened at the last sitting, there is tight security within and around the court premises as everyone entering the court was thoroughly searched and identified before being allowed access to the court.
EFCC operatives took a strategic position on the road leading to the court where supporters and well-wishers of the governor were not allowed to enter the court premises.
Justice Anenih is expected to rule on the former governor and his co-defendants’ bail applications.
Bello was arraigned alongside alongside Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu in a 16-count charge filed against them by EFCC, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In the charge before the FCT High Court, marked FCT/HC/CR/778/24, the former governor is charged with criminal breach of trust in respect of the sum of N110,446,470,089, among others, before the court
